The quality of the wines on Dealul Sârbilor did not go unnoticed by prince Eustatie Dabija (1661-1665), who bought vineyards in the region and had a superb residential mansion built in Oleşeşti, on the banks of the river Putna. The fame of the wines from Dealul Sârbilor conquered Moldavia’s capital city; prince Gheorghe Duca (1665-1666, 1668-1672, 1678-1683), none other than Dabija’s son-in-law, instructed his chancellery to add the vine symbol to the princely seal. It is due to the wines from Codrii Sârbilor (the old name of the place), that vine made it onto the Moldavian coat of arms, and prince Dabija’s domains became part of the Royal Vineyards.
It is in this place that several other Moldavian aristocrats owned vineyards: Mihail Racoviţă (1703-1705, 1707-1709, 1716-1726), Alexandru Moruzi (1792-1793, 1802-1806, 1806-1807), the Sturza family and Miron Costin the chronicler. For over 2000 years Dealul Sârbilor has yielded come of the finest wines in Eastern Europe. The particularities of the soil, the balanced humidity and the excellent sun exposure provided by its location result in a wine with the highest acidity in the country. Due to the diligence and the management flair of oenologist Ion Puşcă, the Panciu vinery became in 1969 the birthplace the first classic Panciu sparkling wine, which soon became a country-wide known brand.
In 2009, the Panciu Domains became the heart and soul of the wines produced on the over 120 hectares of vineyards locate din this area. We set off with a mission that has remained over the years the foundation of our activities and decisions: to manufacture a quality Romanian natural product by constantly capitalising on the potential of the Panciu vineyard. Our team’s hard work and dedication has materialised into our presence on the market with a portfolio that includes still white, rosé and red wines, frizzantes and sparkling wines, in three ranges: Domeniile Panciu, Panciu Riserva and Casa Panciu.
The 120 hectares include nine white varietals and four red ones: Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, Şarbă, Aligote, Galbenă de Odobeşti, Muscat Ottonel, Tămâioasă Românească, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Băbească Neagră, Fetească Neagră, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The cellar has state-of-the-the-art equipment, with a production and storage capacity of two million litres.

In 2017 we adopted a new name and an appearance to match, adapted to the tastes of the modern consumer and reflecting the quality of our wines. As of 2017, Casa Panciu was rebranded „Domeniile Panciu – Podgorie Domnească” („The Panciu Domains – Princely Vineyards”). Our aim is to showcase the extent of our involvement in the tradition and the history of the Panciu region, an area with a winemaking potential that deserves a top spot on the Romanian wine market. This change is not a mere revamping, instead it reflects our desire to constantly keep up with the demands of the wine consumers.
In order to make this possible, in the year 2016 we worked with specialised consulting teams in preparing a new strategy for the wine market. We looked first and foremost at four basic aspects: product, placement, price and promotion. All of these, however, were approached from the perspective of the fundamental value of the Ţifeşti farm – PASSION. It was passion that made it possible to transform the handful of hectares inherited by Daniel Guzu from his grandfather into one of the most promising manufacturers of wines, juices and fruits in Romania.
